Now that the dust has settled, we thought it would be only right to revisit some of the brilliant social media activity from both attendees, volunteers and Twitter ambassadors from the Deep Learning Summit in San Francisco last week. We saw a great number of attendees, as well as those following along from home, questioning, debating and discussing the latest research and trends in the field of Deep Learning long after talks on the ten-stage summit had concluded.

From the off, it was clear that attendees were torn between the different stages due to the number of high-quality talks across all ten stages, with some even skipping sleep at home to keep up-to-date with presentations:

Trying to figure out a way to be in two places at the same time. Good line-up of presentations at the Deep Learning Summit - David Gunkel @David_Gunkel

Trying to get to sleep but following all the great updates from #ReworkDL - I’m missing some fantastic sessions! - Dr Janet Bastiman @Yssybyl

That said, the variety of sessions were also recognised as a great opportunity to seek out niche discussion with industry specialists:

It’s so great to have breakout tracks here, I think it’s a great idea. You can actually meet people in the specific fields and have such great conversations - Maithra Raghu, Google Brain

I had a brilliant time, both with at the AI stage and connecting with people. As I mentioned, I think this Summit is fantastic, high quality talks, both broad and deep by the right amount. So well done, all of you! - Ann Thyme-Gobbel

Feedback continued to pour in on the first day of the summit via our social channels, with many citing their delight at the calibre of speakers and attendees:

I've already met so many brilliant folks at the Deep Learning Summit and I can't wait to share my piece of the DL puzzle today - Deborah Harrison @deborah_who

I have come to the conclusion, that attending the conference, is the best decision I have made so far this year! #reworkDL - Olivia Toth @oliviatoth8

You outdid yourselves this year, the event is growing in popularity, and it is so well organized! - Alicia Kavelaars, OffWorld

The Deep Learning Summit was also seen as an opportunity by a selection of attendees to escape their busy schedules, fully immersing themselves in technical talks…

Really enjoyed the Deep Learning summit SF this week. Great way to emerge from my ICML submission cave! - Sara Hooker @sarahookr

Excited to be speaking at @reworkdl deep learning summit today. What with the ICML deadline just wrapping up, it's been a busy week - Maithra Raghu @maithra_raghu

Social media aside, a great number of attendees were eager to provide some feedback on the summit during our coffee and networking drinks breaks. Here are a few of our favourite comments collected over the two days:

It’s such a great pleasure being part of RE•WORK Deep Learning Summit and talking about the power of our on-device NLP work - Zornitsa Kozareva, Google

I don't usually like conferences because of the noise and it's a struggle to be heard, but RE•WORK summits are always full of great content and connections. I have been a volunteer and a speaker twice so I recommend this to anyone who asks me about conferences - Nikhil Mane, UC Berkeley

I've been coming to the summits for 5 years now and it's always good quality. It's getting bigger and there are always some great talks. Ian's talk was my favourite but all have been good - Raj Neervannan, AlphaSense

I'm a little embarrassed not being aware of you guys before now as it's my first time here. I'm very impressed with everything, especially the quality of the speakers, you're definitely up there with ODSC and ML conf, will be on my list of must attends from now on - Mike Tamir, UBER ATG
