As co-founder and CTO of SwiftKey, Ben Medlock invented the intelligent keyboard for smartphones and tablets that has transformed typing on touchscreens. SwiftKey's smart typing technology learns from each user to more accurately autocorrect and predict their most-likely next word, and features on more than 250 million devices worldwide. They were acquired by Microsoft in February 2016, for a rumoured $250 million. At last month's Deep Learning Summit in London, Ben took to the stage for a fireside chat with writer Sally Davies, to discuss growing a successful startup, reinforcement learning, the Microsoft acquisition and more.
